Everyday I will complete an outdoor drawing of the night sky. I will begin with Polaris and add a new star each day for 117 days- the time in between my mother’s diagnosis with terminal cancer (12/3/07) and her death (4/26/08). My mother’s illness and death has left me feeling out of sync with the date and time. I will use this daily practice as way to reorient myself to the current moment utilizing the stars as a calendar.

It's snowing here in Chicago so I decided my best bet was to work in reverse. I poured hot water from my thermos to melt the stars into the snow. The stars were snowed-over as I worked.
